Slight Change in the Weather

January 15, 2007

Well the weather changed over night.

The temperature at 8.30 am this morning was 0°C

Certainly a lot colder than yesterday.

These are the sights that met me when I left the house.

Is it really January?

January 14, 2007

girl-by-pool.jpg

What a glorious day today, the temperature here reached the dizzy heights of 66°F/19°C .

I spent the day, hoovering every inch of our bedroom and changing the furniture round, I had the bedroom window open and the sun was bursting into the room it was so lovely.

Whilst in the bedroom I heard a little voice outside the gate, I went to the window to see who it was, as the gate opened the little girl from next door appeared, now bearing in mind that it is a lovely spring like day outside, she was dressed in her winter coat, woolly hat and an umbrella, it brought a big smile to my face.  I said to her il pleut?  (is it raining?)  she just smiled.

The Winds of Change

January 14, 2007

Its going to happen again soon, I can feel it, in fact I know it, this blog will be changing.

It doesn’t give me the right feeling, it is too plain and conservative.

I have got loads of ideas in my head all swirling around, I know exactly what I want but just haven’t settled on how to put it across.

First thing to change will be the name, that has got to go, I have lots of ideas of the image that I want to create but need to keep playing with words until it feels right.

As Predicted

January 13, 2007

Oh yes, as predicted, I awoke this morning feeling like shite.  I am sure somebody threw sand in my eyes whilst I slept for those few hours.

I went to the Brocante as planned and I was disappointed to find that it was shut, very strange indeed.  Mind you, this is deepest rural France so these things are to be expected.

Luckily we have 3 or 4 good shops that sell lovely things for the home and craft items all at very good prices, so I spent a couple of hours looking round them and came home with bags of goodies for a small fee.

Can’t Sleep

January 13, 2007

vintagepillow31.jpg

It is now 1.10am and I just can’t sleep.  I went to bed and waited and waited but I just couldn’t sleep.

The reason for this is that I have discovered a new obsession.  It all started a couple of days ago, I visited a blog called Daisy Cottage I really liked it and decided to visit some of the links, this then led me to more blogs on the same subject.

The blogs are based on Shabby chic, cottage style living.  The pictures and ideas that they share are lovely and have really inspired me to introduce the style into my own home.

So I am off to a local Brocante (junk shop) in the morning and it is this that is chasing away any chance of sleep that I am likely to get.

I will have to get something to eat before I attempt to sleep because as long as my eyes are open I am hungry.  I had cereal before bed but because I didn’t go to sleep straight away I am now starving.

I am going to feel like shite in the morning……………………..

Good to be back online

January 11, 2007

I have to say it is really good to be back online, however I am determined not to let it take over my life again.

Up until 6 weeks ago I was spending a big chunck of my time online, I’m not sure that I would go as far as saying that I was addicted because if I was away from it then I could forget about it.

However, if the computer was in the house and so was I then I would be constantly hurrying to finish what I was doing so that I could get online.

The last six weeks have enabled me to break the habit and to enjoy life off line.  We have got loads of work done on the house ie, fitted a new kitchen, decorated two rooms, laid a wooden floor etc.

I am typing this post then I am going to go and do my ironing, I am also determined not to let that pile up so much, little and often is sure to be the best way to do it.

Have a good day and I am sure I will be back again later today.

First Post

January 8, 2007

Well here it is, my very first post on my brand new blog.

We haven’t had an internet connection for the past 6 weeks and I have spent lots of time thinking ’shit, I could have put that on my blog’ or ‘oh, I wish I had the internet, I could have posted about that’.

Anyway, now that I have got the internet I feel very much on the spot and don’t know what to say but fear not, I will soon get into the swing of it.

I am not sure about the design that I have chosen and intend to play around with it until I am happy so be prepared for lots of changes (nothing new there then).

Don’t forget to visit soon x
